Taco Knockdown is officially an Eat Drink SF launch party tradition. Now in its third year, we’ve moved locations for an even bigger kickoff party. This year, Taco Knockdown will be at The Pearl (601 19th St.) and more than a dozen chefs will compete in a creative battle for the “taco” title. (Yes, “taco”. Think foldable food inspired by the legacy of the taco.) The competition will be fierce and the tacos (and “tacos”) inspired. Guests can attempt to try and judge all competing tacos and all competing margaritas in this year’s Milagro Margarita Mix-Off. It’s an effort fit for the most ambitious and indulgent among you. BYO stretchy pants.

A panel of expert judges will vote for the Best Overall winner; last year it was Trick Dog’s agua chile shrimp taco. Guests will cast their vote for the People’s Choice winner; Palm House’s Hawaiian smoked brisket in a wonton shell took home the prize in 2016.

This year’s competition will be hot as Palm House looks to defend their title against a fresh batch of spicy competition from a diverse crew of competitors:

  • ‘āina , Chris Yang
  • Bistro Boudin, Misael Reyes
  • Credo, Larry Finn
  • Crystal Jade, Eddie Lam
  • Mestiza Taqueria, Sophina Uong
  • Mezcalito, Matt D’Ambrosi
  • The MINA Test Kitchen, Adam Sobel
  • Palm House, Brenen Bonetti,
  • Pizzeria Delfina, Matt Davidson
  • ROOH, Sujan Sarkar
  • Salt & Straw, Tyler Malek
  • Tacolicious, Quinten Frye

All bets are off as to who will be crowned 2017’s Taco Knockdown champion.

There will be a new panel of expert judges and you’ll be there to weigh in on some serious margarita action:

EDSF’s Milagro Margarita Mix Off Competitors:

  • Teddy Ronnie, Mosto
  • Alex Vasquez, Tacolicious, Lolo, Mezcalito
  • Daniel Veliz, Black Cat
  • Anthony Cozeck, Wingtip

  • Christian Suzu, Tradition

We guarantee great tunes and a great party. With a little help from:
